The Jamarat are three stone pillars which are pelted as a compulsory ritual of Hajj in emulation of the Prophet Ebrahim (upon him be peace). They represent the three locations where Ebrahim (upon him be peace) pelted the Shaitan (Satan) with stones when he tried to dissuade him from sacrificing his son Ismail (upon him be peace). The pillars are called ‘Jamarat-al-Ula’, ‘Jamarat-al-Wusta’ and ‘Jamarat-al-Aqaba’.

Millions of Muslims every year stone Big Jamarah 7 times for at least 3 consecutive days while performing pilgrim/Hajj which symbolizes refusal to evil thoughts and evil path. The jamarat becomes crowded only during hajj time, 10 up to 13 Dhulhijjah. The Jumrah Al Aqabah being thrown firstly on 10 Dhulhijjah. The next 11, 12 and 13 will be being thrown after the Small and Center jamarats
When he [Abraham] left Mina and was brought down to (the defile called) al-Aqaba, the Devilappeared to him at Stone-Heap of the Defile. Gabriel (Jibrayil) said to him: "Pelt him!" so Abraham threw seven stones at him so that he disappeared from him. Then he appeared to him at the Middle Stone-Heap. Gabriel said to him: "Pelt him!" so he pelted him with seven stones so that he disappeared from him. Then he appeared to him at the Little Stone-Heap. Gabriel said to him: "Pelt him!" so he pelted him with seven stones like the little stones for throwing with a sling. So the Devil withdrew from him PIC FROM 2017 HAJJ
This is the place where Ibrahim (SA) came and throw stone to Iblish. As a symbolic, pilgrims are instructed to throw stone on 10th Jull hizzah.
