يعتبر مركز الأمير سلمان لأمراض الكلى أحد أكبر مراكز التنقية الكلوية بنوعيها (الدموية والبريتونية) في الشرق الأوسط حيث تبلغ طاقته الاستيعابية أكثر من 600 مريض وهو أحد مراكز التشغيل الذاتي بوزارة الصحة ويخصص لعلاج المرضى من المواطنين السعوديين الذين لا توجد لديهم أهلية علاج في مرافق صحية حكومية أخرى عدا وزارة الصحة. وقد تم بدء تشغيله في شهر يناير من عام 2005م وتم ذلك على مراحل بحيث يستقبل 200 مريض في السنة الأولى لتشغيله وتزداد نسبة القبول تدريجيا حتى يصل إلى طاقته الاستيعابية.
