Built in the 1940's, The red Palace is the first structure built out of reinforced concrete in Riyadh. It was a gift to king Saud the second king of Saudi arabia from his father king Abdulaziz. @arriyadh_ada is developing the palace to be a museum in the near future, therefore; it is not open for public at the moment (January 2019) Update! (March 2019) It‘s now possible to visit this 1940’s royal palace. One of the first structures to be built out of reinforced concrete in Riyadh. . After being abandoned for nearly 3 decades the palace has opened it‘s doors to visitors for an awesome contemporary art exhibition. The exhibition covers 3 topics: - Life in the Palace - Pilgramage & the Holly mosque in mecca - Second Gulf War (1990). . Even more interesting is the way the palace is kept as it is. So every thing you will see inside is original! . :There is a great team of young saudi volunteers to guide you through the exhibition and they are really good at that. They also speak english. @bonafide.sa . . : entry is Free for singles and families. No registration required. : 13 March - 20 April 05:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Check out @riyadhtours on Instagram/Facebook and The website Riyadh-tours com

Very good, but could do with restoration and shown as a palace rather than an art venue.

The first concrete building in Saudi Arabia, built in 1944 as King Saud palace, later on it was used as government building until the gulf war in 1991 where it was used as military command center. Nowadays the government is going to re-open the palace either as hotel or heritage site (museum).

Red palace. It is the palace of the ancient king, king Saud. We can go to the visiting part. Main thing, there are volunteers who knows both English and Arabic language, who tells us about the place, what had happen at the ancient times, if you have doubts, they would clear it. There are many ancient things which was used by the king. There are the meeting hall, dining rooms, and many more. But all are of olden times. These rooms have been used by the kings and other companions. The place is having a fantastic atmosphere inside. There are many things of the olden times used by the king. The plates made with real gold material and many more. I am not saying anything cause I will break the excitement if I say all the features. So you have to go there and visit it. From this month, means MARCH 13 TO APRIL 20, you will have free entry. After that you should have to pay.
